The teaching of phonics begins as the children start school in Foundation Stage. At The Bishops’ School, we follow the ‘Letters and Sounds’ scheme. From Foundation Stage to Year 2, each class receives a daily discrete phonics session. These sessions are taught in a systematic way and focus on reading skills such as; segmenting and blending.
